Since 1860, when the church was founded in RasBeirut, support in different forms was offered to every poor and needy parishioner allowing him/her to live with dignity. Education was provided for free or semi-free Medication or hospitalization was secured by different means.
To support the weak, deprived and less privileged is still an absolute priority for our parish. This is done through three different aid programs activating community life and the true implementation of the Lord’s commandment to love your neighbor.
The church’s aid programs are divided into three branches:
- Dispensary : Basic health service is provided for everybody regardless of their religious affiliation, through the parish dispensary.
- Financial Aid for Students belonging to the Parish. This kind of aid is mainly given to students who are enrolled in K – Baccalaureate schools or technical schools and whose parents are facing difficulties financing their children’s tuition fees. Applicants to the program submit an application to the Church office. The social sub committee of the Parish Council first reviews all applications. Then, in consultation with the parish priests, allocates funds to the deserving students. Financial assistance is also offered to university students, but this assistance is restricted to students who take an active part in the life of the Church. - Support for the Elderly: The social worker of the church makes periodic visits to the homes of the elderly to establish the level of need in each individual case. In cooperation with the priests and the Parish Council, she then generates a list of support recipients. Those included on the list receive a monthly amount that secure their basic financial needs. The eldery are also invited to a monthly hot lunch and different social events.

منذ وجود الكنيسة في رأس بيروت عام 1860 وهي ترعى فقراء ومحتاجي الرعية ممكّنة إيّاهم من العيش بكرامة وتقوى. أمّنت لهم المدارس المجانية أو شبه المجانية، كما أمّنت المساعدات الإنسانيّة والمدرسيّة. متى احتاج أحدهم الى تطبيب أو استشفاء، سعت إلى تأمين ذلك بشكل أو بآخر. وتكميلاً لهذا الخط، قد عمل على إنشاء مستوصف في بيت الرعيّة للتطبيب الدّاخلي وطب الأسنان. ومّما يجدر الإشارة إليه أنّه قد رُصدت مبالغ طائلة لتُصرف في سبيل تأدية خدمة فاعلة وشاملة على كل الصعد
برامج المساعدات
لقد أخذت رعيّة نياح السيّدة على عاتقها كأولويّة مطلقة مهمّة مساعدة “الضعيف”، “المحروم” و”البائس” الذين يستأهلون الدّعم. و يتمّ ذلك عبر “برامج المساعدات” المؤسّسة في الرّعية و الهادفة إلى تفعيل الحياة المشتركة وبالتالي تطبيق وصيّة الربّ بالمحبّة للقريب
تقسم برامج المساعدات إلى ثلاثة فروع
المساعدات الماليّة للطلبة من أولاد الرعيّة، حيث أنّ لجنة العمل الاجتماعي مكلّفة من قبل مجلس الرعيّة، و بعد مشاورة الكاهن، تعمل على أخذ القرارات المناسبة بعد النظر مليّاً إلى الطلبات الموثّقة المقدّمة إلى الكنيسة. يهتمّ برنامج المساعدات هذا بتلامذة المدارس عاديّة كامن أو مهنيّة لدعم أوليائهم الذين يعانون شيئاً من الضّيق المالي إزاء تسديد الأقساط المترتّبة عليهم. أمّا بالنسبة للطلبة الجامعيين فقد حُصرت المساعدة فقط بأولئك الذين يشتركون باجتماعات الشّبيبة والنشاطات الرعائيّة الأخرى
مساعدات المسنّين والمتوحّدين من أبناء الرعيّة، المدرجة أسماءهم على قائمة وُضعت باتّفاق بين الرّاعي ومجلس الرعيّة بعد استشارة المساعدة الاجتماعيّة التي ترفع تقارير دوريّة عن حاجات هؤلاء الحقيقيّة بعد قيامها بزيارتهم. بناء عليه، يتمّ تخصيص مبالغ شهريّة لهم لسدّ احتياجاتهم الأساسيّة، كما تُنظّم لهم موائد شهريّة في مركز الرعيّة كما يشتركون من وقت لآخر ببرامج ترفيهيّة مخصّصة لهم
الخدمة الصحيّة الأساسيّة تقدّم من خلال مستوصف الرعيّة للجميع بمعزل عن انتمائهم الدّيني. ويتم متابعة بعد الحالات المتقدّمة بالتنسيق مع بعض المستشفيات و المراكز الطبيّة المتعاونة. و بهذا الخصوص يمكن أخذ التفاصيل من خلال الصّفحة المتعلّقة بالمستوصف
