Father Antonios Axarlis was appointed in 1997 to serve at the Saint Mary’s Orthodox Church of Dormition until June 2016 to assist Father Germanos, first as deacon and from 1999 as priest.
Father Antonios was born on March 8, 1963 in Beirut. He graduated from the Orthodox School of Annunciation, and later joined the Lebanese University to study philosophy at the School of Arts and Social Sciences. Between 1985-1990, he taught the Christian Religion at public and private schools. In July 1995 he acquired a Diploma in Theological Studies from Saint John of Damascus Institute of Theology (University of Balamand).

In 1996 Father Antonios was ordained Deacon at the Church of Annunciation by H.E. Metropolitan Elias Audi, who appointed him as his assistant in Christian teaching and activities.

In September 2006, he joined the School of Theological Studies at Saint Joseph University – specializing in The Culture of Religions . In July 2008, he presented his thesis “The Prophecy as per Ibn Maymun and Ebn Sina “ acquiring a Masters Degree.
Father Antonios has served as secretary of the Saint Quartos the Apostle’s School of Christian Education where he also is a member of the graduation committee. He has presented lectures on spiritual and cultural themes at the Lebanese University, Zahrat El Ihsan College and at different churches of the archdiocese. He is a Member of the Higher Committee of the Orthodox Scouts of Beirut.
He is married and has two children, Christina and Athanasius.
